Gower

Last week I visited to Gower for the first time. I was very impressed with the quality of the climbing, especially Shipwreck Cove in Rhossili.

We briefly visited Fox Hole which was slightly underwhelming but Pioneers of the Hypnotic Groove 7b was very good.

The main event was visiting Shipwreck Cove which has recently been developed with crowdfunding. I was impressed, a lot of effort has been put into developing the area. Coupled with its scenic location it's now a top UK sport climbing 'destination'.

The highlight for me was climbing Vennerne 7c+ (but worth 8a), I was very impressed with the quality of the climbing, it's certainty up there with the best in the UK.

On the same wall One Ton Depot 7b+ was also very good. Sadly I did not have time to get on Air Show the other classic and first route on the main wall..next time!

No better place to be

Today after the standard sunny morning dip in Llyn Padarn I want out for a wander in Llanberis Pass. I set off looking for a particular boulder, but soon found myself lost amongst esoteric boulders enjoying the sun on my back and the beauty of the valley. I stopped to clamber on the odd boulder and top out a few unknown problems, probably been done before, maybe not?! Either way I enjoyed the freedom of just climbing. When the evening sun is shining there is no better place than to be lost in the backwaters of Cwm Glass Bach :-)

I did eventually find the boulder I was looking for and had a quick 'play'/'work' before heading back home via Llyn Padarn for the mandatory evening dip! Happy days.
